Artist Statement
I am a self-taught painter working primarily in oil, with a particular interest in landscape, atmosphere, and the emotional memory of place. My paintings often begin with a recognizable scene, but I am less interested in describing it precisely than in recovering something of how it felt to encounter it.
Color, light, and the physical movement of paint are central to this process. I work with shifting temperatures, visible brushwork, and areas of ambiguity, allowing the image to remain partly unresolved.
Across the work, I return to moments of transition: fading light, distance, solitude, movement, and landscapes that seem briefly suspended between presence and recollection.

Olga Chelnokova is a Norway-based painter working primarily in oil. With an academic background in cognitive neuroscience, she developed her painting practice independently, with a particular interest in color, light, atmosphere, and the emotional experience of place.
Her work ranges from intimate studies on paper to larger canvases, and is characterized by visible, exploratory brushwork and a preference for suggestion over precise description.
